Castlefield viaduct: Meeting place and Time

Friday 1st November 2024 from 11:00am

Our next walk is going to be slightly different to usual. It's our last walk of 2024 and we've had a vote and we're popping into town (Manchester) for an urban walk around Castlefield Viaduct.

We'll meet up at the base of the stairs which go up to the viaduct, which offers a little shelter if it's raining and then, once gathered, we'll zip up the stairs for a wander round this 330m long Grade II listed viaduct which has been converted into a 'sky garden'. It's quite a short walk, but from the viaduct, you can see a lot of Manchester's history, from the Roman walls, to the newest skyscrapers still being built. It's a little oasis of calm in an otherwise bustling city centre.

For those that want to, after wandering round the viaduct, we'll jump over the canal to visit The Wharf, just a short walk away for some lunch and a drink (alcoholic and non-alcoholic options available!)

If you're keen to do just the walk, feel free to turn up unannounced... If you'd like to come to The Wharf afterwards, let me know as I'll need to make sure we have a table/space that can accommodate us.

What happens?

We all meet and do some quick introductions and then set off.

The event is free (unless you fancy food or drink from The Wharf after). Our walks are an informal meet up with other Coaching Professionals.

Who's it for?

  • Anyone who works as a Coach, Executive Coach, Leadership Coach, Life Coach, Coaching Psychologist or any other name we find that suits our practice!

  • Those who like walking and talking

  • This is not an intended to be a formal organised activity - It's a free, informal event bringing together some likeminded people and as such, everyone walks taking full responsibility for themselves, their safety, comfort and enjoyment.

What to bring?

The walk is flat other than the initial stairs to access it and there is an accessible route via some lifts described on their site. Bring a brolly or waterproof in case it's raining (as it's not covered) and trainers/comfy shoes will do the job just fine.

Fancy joining?

If you'd like to come along feel free to join the WhatsApp Group where we announce the plans. If you'd prefer not to join a WhatsApp group, there's a LinkedIn Group that myself and Claire Pedrick look after which has Coach walks all across the country and of course, you can just drop me a text on the day so I know to look out for you! NB If you want to come to the Wharf, please let me know before Monday 28th October so I can book a table.
